Kids Throw - Fleece - Cotton

Pat became absorbed in sewing after retirement and this developed over time into a fascination with the textile arts using lovely fabrics, embroidery threads and images printed on to fabric to radiate texture and colour across her craftwork.

Studying City & Guilds Design for Craft at levels 2 and 3, which has embraced Creative Computing and now Machine Embroidery, has led her to develop uniquely embellished wall art and a variety of her own designs for women and children. Embroidered wall hangings can incorporate personal photos of kids, pets or other treasured pictures on fabric, then be enhanced with appliqué, textured surfaces and quilting, capturing a moment in time. Patricia uses exotic fabrics like silk, organza and velvet as well as more practical cottons and fleece to produce items unique and individual which are often made to order. A rainbow of pin-on silk and organza flowers are very popular ornaments for hair, clothing and bags.

Pat enjoys designing gifts for children such as the toy stowaway ‘Kids Kaddy’, which can be hung on a door, also particularly well established are her bright fleece animal cushions, cot covers and play blankets. Blankets can carry a child’s name and other personal details if desired. Decorated with multiple embroideries to amuse and educate the youngster and backed with amusing figured cottons they are popular and hard wearing.

As well as Open Studios Pat attends Craft Fairs including those held at Ross-on-Wye and Cirencester. She is always pleased to welcome visitors to her studio by appointment and where examples of her work can be seen.
